Akan Service

To reach more people with the message of the gospel the Akan- speaking groups in the Adabraka church had to make adjustments now and again till the Senior pastor suggested that the best way forward might be to establish a full scale Akan Chapel . This would make it possible for all the akan dialects ie Asante Twi, akuapem Twi and Fanti to be used in Church services. A number of people contributed to the realization of this goal these among others were; Rev. E, Annoh, Pastor Kwabena Sefa and  PastorDouglas Ayisi, Deacon Augustine Donkor and Mrs. Victoria Mensah.

On 3rd February 2002, the Akan Chapel was inaugurated and the first worship service was conducting in the outer sanctuary, In the view of the Akan
Chapel, leaders the chapel has afforded many people who felt lost in the greater Calvary body, the opportunity to unearth and develop their gifts to the glory of God .It is a joy to see such people enthusiastically working to honour God. The senior citizens particularly found a fitting home in the Akan Chapel and to see these dear ones dancing and praising God is always a heart-warming experience.

Evangelism has been the focus of the church seen its inception. This has led to a remarkable increase in attendance at its weekly services. Another testimony to God’s gracious hand on the chapel is that for the past years the chapel has always been the leader in terms of the number of people making the decision to accept Christ as Lord and personal savior and also the number of persons baptized into the Calvary family. The chapel also has a well organized choir – the new generation choir whose first robes were provided by Rev. Dr. Oduro and subsequently one by the church. With the backing of the Akasa group, worship services lively and exciting.

The chapel is blessed with a core of committed leadership, a vibrant worship service, especially the innovative adowa/ kete praise; forward-looking prayer meetings and progressive Sunday schools. literacy classes are organized  for people willing to learn and write the Akan language.

The Motto: “YEREPEM KO NKONIMDIE MU”( We are pressing on to victory) amply sums up the determination of the  leadership and members to fulfill God’s purpose for in this  generation in the power of the Holy  Ghost.

By  God’s grace, today the Akan chapel can boost of raising two ministers of the gospel in person of Rev. Emmanuel Acquah now with Calvary Baptist Church Nungua and Rev.
